Fluttershy 90 pt. 2

Fluttershy number 90 is done! Oh my gosh, this hype is real!!! So, this Fluttershy is a custom I designed. I rarely keep my own customs, as I am one of those types of artists that often hates their own work. I currently have only three of my own customs: a G3 pegasus meant to be a winter to spring looking pony; my OC, Trot L'Oeil; and my Alicorn OC (yes I have one of those) named Princess Votia, the Princess of Wishes.

This Fluttershy is an alicorn Fluttershy. I have found these sort of fakie looking alicorn Mane 6 ponies over time on eBay, and I have been wanting to get one for myself. When it arrived, it looked a little sad, so I wanted to update her. So, here's what I did with this little pony:

First, I cleaned up the body and redid the cutie mark, one on each side. I did a base color on her shoes before going over it with a metallic green paint color. I used the same green to do highlights in her wings and over her collar and crown. I found a tiny little butterfly crystal that I used on her collar, and I found a cool simulated green opal that I used on her crown. I also styled her hair, and used a little product to keep the style going. Her biggest issue is still wanting to tip over (her body is a bit crooked), but I did try to form the body a bit with boiling water and tin foil.

Now, she is a part of the army!

CT GamerCon

In the midst of all these storms, I have been in a storm of preparation myself. CT GamerCon is this coming weekend, and I have been trying to make sure my merchandise meets the needs of the buyers. Been making a fair amount of Pokemon figurines, and some video game characters. Even made a MtG figurine.

First off, here is the lay of the land for all of you to view. As of now, I will be in Booth L, but I have been told that might change. I'm still going to be in that area, so make sure you check it out! And if you still haven't gotten a chance to check out what GamerCon is about, here's the link: CT Gamer Con

Below, you can see a lot of the new figurines I have been working on. Some are up on my Etsy page, but many won't show up until after the Con, if they haven't sold. I hope I see many of you there!

Starting at Top Left: Sailor Moon Cats Diana, Artemis and Luna; Lucky Charms Unicorn; Mega Absol; Kirby Balls

Left: Felicia from Dark Stalkers; Right: Asuza, Lost but Seeking from MtG

Top: Mini Rapidash Figurines; Bottom: Mini Swanna and Mini Charizard

Number 90 part 1

Holy Cow, I am much closer than I thought! Why am I skipping 89? Because I miscounted and one of my Fluttershy's had fallen behind another so I kept forgetting to count her! So, I am in the final home stretch of 10!!! This is nuts!

This time, I am going in a different direction. I am making one of my Fluttershys. Normally, I do not keep any customs I make, but this seems like a special occasion. So, I found an alicorn Fluttershy from China that I am in the process of customizing. The idea is to really make her look like a flawless Princess Fluttershy. Right now, here is the before picture. I'll post the update once she is completed and officially part of my collection.

More WIP and Thoughts on my Journey

And so begins the next round of figurines for upcoming GamerCon. While I will still be bringing some of my pony figurines, I am currently working on some Kirby fluff balls, in attempts to get rid of some pink minky fabric that's been hanging around my craft room. I figure, I can't go wrong with pink balls of fluff that look like a video game character.

I have also finally gotten the bait for a Felicia from DarkStalkers. This will be a bit ambitious, but hopefully will turn out cool. I intend to mod her a bit, so she is not so...scantily dressed. I am hoping to get a few other video game character figurines done as well. I've got some mini Pokemon in the works, so we will see how those go, and I have ideas for doing some Magic the Gathering figurines. However, I do not know if those will be done in time for the con. It's a matter of if I can find clothing for them, as I have zero sewing skills.

It's been a wild journey since I started customizing, honestly. When I started this, I was horrible. And I only did My Little Pony figurines. But since then, I have been moving on from MLP into other characters and it's been interesting to get to this point. I pick up tips and tricks from other artists, and it's made me evolve on my own. I know not everyone appreciates fan art and what fan artists do, but honestly, I support it. If you look at other countries, copying styles in order to learn your own is acceptable. And I would think, this would include fan art. I mean, think about the comic book and animation world: if you want to work for a company, you often have to pass an art test. That art test, often consists of continuing a scene that looks like it belongs in the finished work. That means it has to look SEAMLESS! You are REQUIRED to copy someone else's style in this way. So I honestly think Fan Art has its place in the art world.

Early Days: One of my first custom ponies, a steampunk pony.

Last Year: One of the few times I customized a doll, and make this into a Rita doll

Happy Fluttershy Friday! I'M MOVING!!! (Also, #154, 155, 156, and 157!!!)
