FanFaire Recap

Well, so, that was a bust.

FanFaire was this past weekend, where it was my first con of the season. Not quite local, but not a huge trek--right in NYC. Table for two days costs me $65 and I won't need to worry about hotel as I have family in the area. My theory is, if I make back table and transportation (i.e., getting from family to the location as well as parking) I would be fine.

Well, I was completely wrong. I only made back table, selling 4 figurines, two necklaces, a pin, and a print. Never mind that I was finally debuting buttons at my table, and that I was pretty much the only one there who was showing figurines. I know not ever con can go as planned, but I was at least hoping to get SOMETHING.

Now, do not get me wrong, I believe this was a good con. This was not only a first year con, but it was run by a high school PTA at a school for art and design students. Which, many of them probably want to try and get into the con game. THIS, I believe, shows them pretty much what they could expect. And, from what I heard, it was thrown together in 4 months, so that definitely could not have been easy.

Oh well. I was at least able to experiment with a new set-up and I would say it worked out well. I've learned some options for displaying things like my postcards without needing to take up table space.

Next up: CT GamerCon on March 24th and 25th. Let's hope that one goes better!

The Road to 100: 87 and 88

The road to 100 is shaping up to be a good one.

I did a bit of reorganizing, and have had to give the Flutterbats their own shelf. Sort of like a special forces in a way.

Makes me think of the old Eddie Izzard sketch about when he wanted to join the army.

I got 86 as one of the regular merch Fluttershy's from the new Equestria Girls minis. Cute little thing, looks like she is going scuba diving.

The newest customs, 87 and 88, arrived over the weekend. These are from the wonderful Kiera Wheeler, of Mana Lai's Artisan Crafts. These ones are pretty unique. I have gotten customs from her before. In fact, she made me a Flutterbat Gothic Lolita custom some years ago, which I still adore. So, I asked if she could make me two Gala Fluttershys in Lolita style. I figured, stick with the concept of Lolita, to embrace the cuteness of Fluttershy from the gala episodes. These two beauties came out wonderful!

If you want something from her, here is her info:

FanFaire Coming Up!

Sorry for the absence, I have been busy working on prepping for the upcoming FanFaire in New York City this weekend from 10am to 6pm. I am very excited for this con. I forget if it's a new con or if it's only like 2nd or 3rd year. If you want to check it out, here is the link for the convention:

I will be in booth 219 with a lot of different types of merchandise. The majority of it will be MLP related, but I will have some other stuff and crossovers as well. Here is the map showing the area where I will be. I will be right along the aisle, right at the corner, pretty freaking sweet!:

Make sure you swing by! I hope to see many of you there!

Why I Brony

So, one thing many people know me for is being an MLP artist and collector. What many people do not realize is just how much doing these two things have saved my life. When I started getting into the pony fandom, I was stuck in a very bad and abusive relationship, though I did not realize it myself. Others did, but not me, and I was too blinded to see it until it was too late. However, to an extent, my exDom did introduce me to the newer MLP series, even though I remember then old one from back in the 80s.

But, as that deteriorated and I was withdrawing more and more into myself, the community of Bronies was where I felt safe and accepted. Creating artwork for the Brony community helped me get through some very bad issues, and made me feel like myself. Collecting custom ponies, autographs, and figurines made me feel happy, allowing me to support other artists and get epic art in multiple forms.

It's sort of like when I get to cosplay and I can be anyone I want. My job and school drain me, and there are times that all I want to do is just let loose. I like dressing up as someone else, and getting to act like someone else, like a black cat when I put on my tail and paws. Or even like a vampire when my fangs come out.

There are very few people who get this. But this is who I am, and I never intend to change. If you want to stare, then please move away from me.

Happy Fluttershy Friday! I'M MOVING!!! (Also, #154, 155, 156, and 157!!!)

OK, so first and foremost, SO SORRY for not a lot of posts. Creative burnout is real, as well as some BIG news... I AM MOVING INTO MY OWN H...
