SPS, LockCity!

Another Sunday, and a lot to update on! I have been so preoccupied with issues coming from my graduate school with regards to my summer internship, that I have been forgetting to post. Finally, though, things are sorted out and I have also been working my rear off in order to make sure I can get as many customs done before I am supposed to start my internship tomorrow. I am not sure how it will affect my crafting time, but at least I will finally be able to do this part of my graduate program. Seriously, this has been giving me nothing but trouble for the past few weeks, to the point where I have debated on suing the school. It's such a long story, I am not going to try and get into it.

In the meantime, a reminder! If you are not able to attend some of the bigger cons that are coming up in the next few weeks, and are local, come check me out at Lock City Anime and Comic Con! I will be vending at this wonderful one-day con, which has a great staff who works hard to get this con out there.

If you want to go, check it out here: LockCity Anime and Comic Con

Now, onto other stuff. So, I have been doing my best to branch out from ponies in order to try and make myself more versatile and appeal to other cons. To that end, here's what I have been working on lately:

So, in keeping with trying to branch out, since my next con is meant to be Anime and Comic, I've been doing a lot more Pokemon, specifically Eevee and Eevolutions. Eevee seems to be pretty popular, and I have an easy time doing them, so I though, why not.

I also decided to try and make another mini type superhero figurine using an Equestria Girl mini figurine. I decided to try and make a Spider-Gwen, and I think she looks pretty cool. I am particularly proud of the detail work, especially on the back!

However, I have not forgotten my roots in customizing. In keeping with that, I have definitely been making a lot of MLP related items. These are the latest, and I am hoping to do more.

SPS and More

So! I wanted to post about the army as well as show off a few new pieces that I have been working on. Let's start with the army:

I'm currently at 99 right now. In the picture, it shows 98 out of the 99, because my BIG Flutterbat doesn't fit on this display. That one is currently in my bedroom on another display case. But, that Flutterbat was made by the incredible White Dove, which I will post about another day. I think until I get number #100, I am going to show off a few other of my Flutters and promo the heck out of some of these artists. Why? Because they work hard and deserve it.

Now granted, not all of the ones in this collection are customs. Many of these are the official toys. I would say this is about equal in terms of what is custom and what is not. I'd say that's a good mix.

Now, onto some of my new pieces. So first up, is a simpler piece I did, making an Ashi doll from the newest season of the TV show, "Samurai Jack." Now, granted this show ended a while ago, but that doesn't mean I can't do something epic. I actually saw on Twitter that Tara Strong was wondering why no one has done an Ashi doll, and I thought, 'Why don't I do one?' So I did.

So my Ashi doll is based on when she turned good, after struggling with trying to defeat Jack, when she looks like this:

Now, I know that mine is not exactly like the Ashi above, and that's fine. Personally, I like giving my dolls my own little spin.

Another doll I just finished was this Pink Diamond one from 'Steven Universe.' Now, I was struggling with this one for some time, on how to make her just right. And while I am not disappointed with the results, I am a bit annoyed that I could not get the face color the same as the body color. That's because I sprayed the body with Krylon spray paint, and the face I had to paint by hand and I couldn't find the exact same color as the spray paint. So I went with the closest thing possible. I still this she came out alright.

So, here's what Pink Diamond looks like:

And here's my result:

I did want to make her somewhat of a warrior, which is why she has the sword, and I wanted to make the stand look a little like a Gem homeworld, so I hope I achieved that look in a sense.

Lastly, I made a chibi-style Storm from X-Men. And I went old-school style with this one, and even tried to pay homage to sort of comic book type style with the hair. I even gave her some crystals in her eyes to make it seem like she's getting ready to call up a storm.

Fluttershy Friday #98 & #99

HAPPY FLUTTERSHY FRIDAY!!!! Just a quick note, I will be at the Newburgh Free Library expo on Saturday, so if you need a way to escape the heat and you are in the area, come check it out! If you need info, here is the link: NFLXpo18

Now, onto the good stuff! The last ones before number 100 have arrived! This time, these come from a customizer that I have admired for YEARS named Julieta! I have been wanting something special as I got closer to 100, and these two designs have been on my mind for quite some time. And I have not been disappointed! These two are something special!

The first one, which is the Fluttershy in the kimono design is one I have been admiring from a magnet I got several years ago. Here is the original design (not my design, but I can't find the artist!):

And here is what my friend designed! Isn't it lovely!!!!

Now, my second design, this girl always does lovely sugar skull designs on her ponies from time to time, and I thought that a Flutterbat with this type of design would be absolutely epic! And I was NOT disappointed!

Fluttershy Friday! #97

Alright everyone! Time to show off #97! This time, this is a custom I made. So, I noticed that I had two Fluttershy Equestria Girls minis that looked way too similar, so I thought, why not make a Flutterbat EGM? And given the recent Goth Fluttershy episode, I thought I could use that for inspiration. I had such fun doing this, I may make more. Would totally be fun! Maybe could do a few alternates of specific characters. I mean, we have Flutterbat, and in the comics there is Nightmare Rarity, which I think would be absolutely GORGEOUS! Can you just image the coloring, darling?

OK...that got too close to Rarity...anyway, so this lovely girl almost has a Goth Lolita style going on. Her bowtie, which is a bit hard to see, is actually Hello Kitty. She's got crystals for earrings, and her hairbow is a bat. She also has bats on her boots. I love her facial expression too! I'm quite proud of this one!

WIPW

OK! Time for some Work in Progress Wednesday!! Got a few things going, since I am finally back in the swing of things.

Let's go clockwise, starting in top right corner. In this piece, you see just a lot of red. Well, I am finally working on this alicorn Deadpool pony that I have been thinking about since the first Deadpool movie. Since unicorns and Deadpool go hand in hand, it seemed appropriate.

Which leads me to the white figurine, I am going to be attempting a mini Storm. I have no idea how I will make the outfit work, but I am determined to figure this out.

Now, the pink ones. Starting with the two Pinkie Pies, this goes back to Deadpool. Since we now have acknowledgement of Pinkie Pie within the Deadpool universe, I am going to be making Deadpool Pinkie Pies! These should be fun to finish up!

Lastly, the pink body with the unfinished head. Well, I am going to attempt a Pink Diamond figurine. The body has been turning out well so far, next is the head.

I also have a commission in the works that is not pictured. Should be fun to do!

Upcoming Cons:
-Newburgh Free Library Con (June 30th)
-LockCity ComicCon (July 27th)
-Tiny Paws Con (August 17th-19th)

Still Waiting to Hear:
-DerpyCon

Updates, Apologies, and More

OK, so I feel like it's been a while since I posted anything, and I feel like I owe people an apology with that. Recently, my last few graduate classes have been kind of kicking my rear and making it very hard for me to focus on almost anything. In the past, this has not stopped me from doing my blogs and updating you on my progress with reaching the final 100th Fluttershy.

However, to add to this recently, there has been a personal issue that has sort of effected my mental state. Nothing has happened to me personally. I am not ill, nor injured, or anything along those lines. It's a family member of mine who was recently diagnosed with cancer. A very aggressive form of a common cancer that many people live with and don't suffer from. This has thrown me off my game recently. It's a shock to hear that this immediate family member would become ill, this person who is a pillar in my family. I could not even fathom it, and it's worse because I do not know what to do about it. This is one of those things where I cannot do anything more than just sit and listen for news and be a presence for that person. My boyfriend has been AMAZINGLY supportive in this, and I cannot imagine how exhausting this might be for him as well, because I know that a family member of his own just got treated for cancer. Thankfully, for both of us, it seems that both our family members may be OK for now--margins were clear for getting any of the tumors out from what I understand in both situations.

So, there are my apologies for now. I will probably have more as time goes on. But in the meantime, let me post some of the work I have been doing lately. So first, since today is a Sunday, here are a few pieces that I have finished! First, we have a custom Human Luna doll, with a unique stand to make it look like she is dancing on the stars. Then, below, we have a Zilla Nyx figurine, with sparkly hair! Lastly, I did a crazed Mabelcorn who basically took out a unicorn!

ValleyCon Recap

So, this past weekend, I took a chance, and got on board with going to a local con at the Jefferson Valley Mall, which they were calling ValleyCon. Now, this was the first year for this sort of thing, so that's always hit or miss. The upside I can see of getting in on the ground floor of a con is you can really build more of a relationship with the people who run the con.

What had me nervous was that this con was in an actual MALL with normal mall hours. But, it seems my fears were for naught. My concern was, I couldn't stay the full mall hours on Saturday (which was from 10am to 9pm) and left a bit after 6pm on Saturday. I was worried I would come back to my table vandalized. Came back the next day, and it was completely fine, so I had nothing to worry about. It was also interesting because, I got foot traffic that I never would have gotten at a normal con, so it helped me easily make back table as well as profit. Not a lot, but I wasn't expecting a lot for first year. Still very happy.

Next con isn't until end of June.

Happy Fluttershy Friday! I'M MOVING!!! (Also, #154, 155, 156, and 157!!!)

OK, so first and foremost, SO SORRY for not a lot of posts. Creative burnout is real, as well as some BIG news... I AM MOVING INTO MY OWN H...
